Perform product classification and directive analysisRequired

Classify your product according to EU directives: Low Voltage Directive 2014/35/EU (voltage range 50-1000V AC / 75-1500V DC), EMC Directive 2014/30/EU (electromagnetic compatibility), and Gas Appliances Regulation EU 2016/426 (gas-powered kitchen appliances). Also check the applicability of the RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU and REACH Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 for chemical substances in materials.

Check Spanish national additional requirementsRequired

Identify Spanish national regulations that go beyond EU harmonization. The Ministerio de Industria, Comercio y Turismo (Ministry of Industry) and the Ministerio de Consumo (Ministry of Consumer Affairs) may impose additional requirements. Note Real Decreto 1055/2022 on market surveillance, Ley 7/2022 de Residuos y Suelos Contaminados for packaging and waste obligations, and the competencies of the Comunidades Autonomas (autonomous communities) which have regional enforcement powers.

Research harmonized standardsRequired

Identify the relevant harmonized European standards (hEN) for your product. For the Low Voltage Directive, these are typically EN 60335-1 (general safety) and product-specific parts of the EN 60335-2 series (e.g., EN 60335-2-9 for grills and toasters, EN 60335-2-15 for kettles). For the EMC Directive, EN 55014-1 (emission) and EN 55014-2 (immunity) apply. For gas appliances, EN 30-1-1 is relevant. Application of harmonized standards establishes the presumption of conformity.

Commission testing laboratory or notified bodyRequired

Select an ISO 17025 accredited testing laboratory or an EU Commission notified body (Organismo Notificado). For LVD and EMC, internal production control (Module A) with tests by an accredited laboratory is generally sufficient. For gas appliances, EU type examination (Module B) by a notified body is mandatory. Spanish notified bodies are accredited by ENAC (Entidad Nacional de Acreditacion) and listed in the EU Commission's NANDO database.

Have safety and EMC tests conductedRequired

Have all required tests conducted according to harmonized standards. For the Low Voltage Directive, this typically includes electrical safety tests (insulation, earth monitoring, temperature rise, mechanical strength). For the EMC Directive, emission and immunity measurements are conducted. For gas appliances, combustion tests, leak tests, and safety shut-off tests are added. Ensure that test samples are representative of series production.

Compile technical documentationRequired

Create the technical documentation (Expediente Tecnico) with the following components: general product description, design drawings and circuit diagrams, list of applied harmonized standards, risk analysis and assessment, test reports from accredited laboratories, description of conformity assessment procedures, copies of EU type examination certificate (for gas appliances), material certificates and supplier certificates. Documentation must be in an official EU language — Spanish is recommended for the Spanish market.

Issue EU Declaration of ConformityRequired

Create the EU Declaration of Conformity (Declaracion UE de Conformidad) according to Annex IV of the respective directive. It must contain: manufacturer's name and address, product identification (model, type, batch or serial number), all applicable EU directives with full reference, applied harmonized standards, notified body details if applicable, date and signature of the responsible person. The EU DoC must be translated into the language of the Member State — for Spain, Spanish (castellano) is mandatory.

Apply CE marking and mandatory informationRequired

Apply the CE marking visibly, legibly, and permanently on the product. Minimum height is 5 mm. The following mandatory information must appear on the product or packaging: CE mark, manufacturer's name and address (fabricante), importer's name and address (importador) if the manufacturer is outside the EU, type designation and model number, serial or batch number, rated voltage and frequency (for electrical appliances), gas type and connection pressure (for gas appliances), notified body identification number (for gas appliances, after the CE mark). All information must be in Spanish.

Create Spanish-language user instructions and safety warningsRequired

Create complete user instructions (instrucciones de uso) and safety warnings (advertencias de seguridad) in Spanish (castellano). This is mandatory under Spanish law (Real Decreto 1468/1988 on labeling and Ley General para la Defensa de los Consumidores y Usuarios). The manual must include: intended use, safety instructions and warnings, installation and connection instructions, cleaning and maintenance instructions, technical specifications, disposal information according to WEEE/RAEE, and contact details for customer service in Spain.

Check energy efficiency labeling (if applicable)

Check whether your product falls under the EU Energy Labelling Regulation (EU 2017/1369). Many home and kitchen appliances such as refrigerators, dishwashers, washing machines, and ovens require an EU energy label. Register the product in the EPREL database (European Product Registry for Energy Labelling) and ensure the energy label corresponds to current scale classes.

Complete Ecoembes registration for packaging wasteRequired

Register with Ecoembes, the Spanish packaging take-back system, according to Ley 7/2022 de Residuos. As a company placing packaged products on the Spanish market, you are obligated to participate in a collective take-back system or establish your own. Ecoembes covers household packaging. Report your packaging quantities (weight by material: paper/cardboard, plastic, metal, glass, wood) and pay the Punto Verde contribution. The Green Dot (Punto Verde) must be displayed on the packaging.

WEEE/RAEE registration for waste electrical equipment (if applicable)

If your product is an electrical or electronic device, you must register with the Registro Integrado Industrial (RII) of the Ministerio de Industria and join a WEEE take-back system. In Spain, Ecotic, Ecolec, Ecoasimelec, and Reinicia are the main RAEE systems (Residuos de Aparatos Electricos y Electronicos). Apply the WEEE symbol (crossed-out wheelie bin) on the product and include disposal instructions in Spanish.

Upload compliance documents to Amazon Seller CentralRequired

Upload the following documents to Amazon Seller Central: EU Declaration of Conformity (Declaracion UE de Conformidad) in Spanish, test reports from accredited laboratory, EU type examination certificate (for gas appliances), product images with visible CE marking, energy label and EPREL product datasheet (if applicable). Use the 'Compliance Documents' or 'Product Compliance' section in Seller Central. Respond promptly to Amazon compliance requests, as delays can lead to listing suspension.

Create Spanish-language Amazon listingRequired

Create a complete product listing on Amazon.es in Spanish. Ensure all compliance-relevant information is included in the listing: CE marking visible in product images, energy efficiency class (if applicable), reference to applicable EU directives in product details, manufacturer and importer information, note about Spanish-language user instructions included.
