Definition
The WEEE Directive (2012/19/EU) governs the collection, treatment, and recovery of waste electrical and electronic equipment. In Germany, implemented through the ElektroG.
Why it matters
WEEE registration is mandatory in every EU country of sale. Amazon checks registration numbers and suspends listings without valid registration. Applies even to USB cables and LED lights.
What you need to do
In Germany: register with stiftung ear, mark products with crossed-out wheelie bin symbol, record WEEE number in Amazon Seller Central.
