Definition
An importer is any EU-established person or company that places a product from a third country on the EU market for the first time.
Why it matters
Amazon sellers importing goods from non-EU countries are automatically classified as importers with full legal obligations. Under the GPSR, importer contact details must appear on the product.
What you need to do
Before selling, verify: valid conformity assessment, complete technical documentation, correct labelling. Importer details must appear on the product or packaging.
