Harmonised Standards

EU-wide recognised technical standards

Clear definitions for marketplaces, manufacturers, and importers.

Definition

Harmonised standards are European standards (EN) developed by CEN, CENELEC, or ETSI on behalf of the European Commission. They create a presumption of conformity with EU directives.

Why it matters

They are the safest and most efficient way to demonstrate conformity. Amazon often requests evidence of which standards were applied during compliance reviews.

What you need to do

Applicable harmonised standards are published in the EU Official Journal. Standard texts are available from national standardisation bodies (DIN, BSI).
