SVHC

Substances of Very High Concern

Clear definitions for marketplaces, manufacturers, and importers.

Definition

SVHC (Substances of Very High Concern) are substances classified under REACH as being of very high concern: carcinogenic, mutagenic, toxic to reproduction, or persistent and bioaccumulative.

Why it matters

The SVHC Candidate List contains over 230 substances. Content above 0.1 percent triggers immediate information obligations. Amazon increasingly requests SVHC evidence.

What you need to do

Request regular SVHC test reports from suppliers and cross-check against the latest ECHA Candidate List. SCIP notifications to ECHA are mandatory for importers.
