CLP Regulation

Classification, Labelling, and Packaging of chemical substances

Clear definitions for marketplaces, manufacturers, and importers.

Definition

The CLP Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 governs the classification, labelling, and packaging of chemical substances and mixtures in the EU. It implements the UN Globally Harmonized System (GHS).

Why it matters

Products containing chemical substances must be correctly labelled under CLP. Missing hazard pictograms or H and P statements on Amazon listings or packaging regularly lead to suspensions.

What you need to do

Manufacturers and importers must self-classify their substances, notify ECHA, and label products with hazard pictograms, signal words, and hazard and precautionary statements.
